Coorg’s capital Mercara or Madikeri is a wonderful and magnificent large hill town which is situated in the western Ghats. This beautiful hill station altitude is about 1452 meters above the sea level. Many other names are also given to this wonderful place such as- ‘Kashmir of South’ and ‘Scotland of India’. 1.Visit Abbey Falls
Abbey falls is also known by another name i.e. Abbi falls is one of the most famous tourist attractions in things to do in Coorg and is located 10 kilometers away from Madikeri. There is a walk of around 200 steps from the main entrance towards the bottom. It will take us to the plantations of pepper, cardamom, coffee and many more spice plantations. The waterfall gives a charming and mesmerizing experience.
2.Visit Madikeri Fort
This wonderful fort was built in the 17th century and is also included under the top 10 places to visit in Coorg. MadikeriFort includes big elephants at the entrance, a museum, and important portraits. This charming Fort also houses the Madikeri Fort Commissioner’s office. This charming fort also has a District Prison, Mahatma Gandhi Public Library and More Maha Ganapati Temple which is the reason for its popularity things to do in Coorg .
The opening timing of the Fort is 10.00 a.m. and the closing timing is 5.30 p.m.
This Fort is closed every Monday and there is no entry fee to visit here.
3.Do Tadiandamol Trek
The highest mountain peak in things to do in Coorg is Tadiandamol which has an altitude of 1748m. People who want to trek in things to do in Coorg visit this place. The trek would be difficult but the view from the top will be very beautiful and charming. Tadiandamol trek has the second highest peak in the Karnataka state. It is advised that this trek should not be performed by non-experienced trekkers as it’s difficulty level is moderate to difficult. People can also do camping here nearby the big rock and peak. People should carry a large amount of water with them as there are chances of the scarcity of water during the trek.
The trek duration is 2 to 3 hours for one way.
4.Visit Raja’s Seat
Raja’s seat is a charming and wonderful garden which is one of the popular destinations for catching sunrise and sunset. This garden is also a picnic spot for the local people of this place. There is a toy train for childrens and also an amazing musical fountain in this garden. This place is considered of historical importance to the country and is managed and taken care of by the Archeological Survey of India.
The opening and closing timing of the garden is 5.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.
5.Visit Omkareshwara Temple
Omkareshwara Temple is a beautiful temple and is the combination of Islamic and Gothic architecture. This temple was built by king Lingarajendra as dedication for Lord Shiva in the year 1820. The style of the temple resembles as the Muslim Dargah. There is also a water tank in this temple which houses so many fishes and is one of the beauties of this temple.

Morning- 6.30 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.
Evening -5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
6.Visit Honnamana Kere Lake
Honnamana lake is known to be the biggest of all lakes in things to do in Coorg and it gives historical and spiritual significance. This magnificent lake is surrounded by coffee plantations, man-made caves and hills. The name ‘Honnamana’ was given to this lake after the Goddess Honnamana. There is also a temple adjacent to this lake which is dedicated to the goddess Honnamana. Here one popular festival is also celebrated i.e. Gauri festival which is very amazing.
7.Visit Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
This is a charming and amazing sanctuary which covers an area of 181 square km and the name ‘Brahmagiri’ of this sanctuary got from Brahmagiri Park which has a highest peak of 1608m. This sanctuary includes the evergreen forests and semi-evergreen forests. This beautiful and charming sanctuary was established in the year 1974 and is surrounded by the cardamom and coffee plantations things to do in Coorg .
The opening timing of this sanctuary is 6.00 a.m. and closing timing is 6.00 p.m.
